I'm considering purchasing a private party sale 2001 Crewcab in excellent cosmetic condition. I'll take it to my mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection, however what might I consider in common repair/replacementcosts if I were to keep this truck for 3-5 years? I have not checked with the Ford dealer to determine if any items may still be waranteed.
Your response will help decide if it is better to take incentives on a new truck or pay cash for this one, with expected repair costs.

I doubt anything is under factory warranty at this point.

If all checks out well with the pre-inspection, then you can expect to pay 7 to 20 cents a mile for repairs and maintenance.

IF you spend $15,000 and enter 36,000 miles for 3 years the cost of the vehicle alone is going to be forty one cents per mile just to own it, excluding maintenance and repairs.
