1999 Ford F150 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My odometer on my 1999 Ford F150 only works part of the time. There is no rhyme or reason when it shuts of, or when it turns back on. Oh ya, It never stops accumulating miles. I just want to see my odometer all the time, and any help would be great!

OK with out running some tests I would check or replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the top of the rear differential. This sensor is what sends the signal to the speedo unit to determine speed. Here is what it should look like more or less.
