My truck started missing awhile ago and then it quit. It started again friday and done it all weekend. It was running ok today and then it just quit. You can start it but it doesn't stay running. Could the fuel pump or filter be causing this. My brother thinks it could be the timing chain though. Can you tell me what it might be

Were your symptoms at all as follows, it does fine in first gear but when 2nd and 3rd kick in it starts running all choppy and starts to vibrate or almost shake really bad and it dies much more easily we just put a new starter in but I think it is the timing or possibly the timing chain
thanks again for getting back to me regarding this
