My engine stated running rough and diagnostic code showed malfunction of ignition coil #3. I replaced coil and plug, cleared code and when rechecked code showed same for coil#5. Again I replaced and cleared code. Now code shows coil # 6. Is it possable for all coils to go bad at same time or should I be looking for another cause to the problem.

It is possible for all the ignition coils to go out at the same time. I had the exact same problem on a 2001 F150 right at about 100K miles on the engine. I ended up replacing all the coils, spark plugs, O2 sensors, new O-ring kits on the fuel injectors and new catalytic convertors. It was alot of money to drop all at once but worth it as I don't have any ignition problems anymore and I'm now at 146K miles.

I'm not suggesting that you have to do all this work, I just wanted to do a comprehensive tune up to my own truck.

Hope this helps
