I have a 1998 ford f150. An automatic trans with the 5.4. When it rains or snows my speedometer dont work and it wont shift right. It shift real hard. And sometimes when this is going on it shifts into neutral on its own. I have chenged me speed sensors and my trans wiring harness. Can anyone think what else it might be. Thanks.

Ok the speed sensor on the top of the rear diff. Have you checked the plug to make sure the rubber boot was still there that moisture seals it?

How does the wire harness look to the sensor any fray's or anything? See that sensor controls the shift and the speedo so this is why I really need this checked out closely. Also is the check engine light on? When this happens does the overdrive light blink too?

It could be the Transmission Range Sensor on the side of the trans where the cable connects to. If you have a digital multi meter we can run tests on it.
