When I come to a stop light or just have to stop I can feel the transmission like go out of gear and then when I go to take off again it will sometimes not want to go back into gear and then there is times that it will engage hard and make the rear tires chirp.

Start by checking your transmission fluid. The fluid starts as a bright cherry red. If it is brown or low get the transmission fluid and filter changed immediatlly and or filled. Another problem may be with a sensor or the computer. You can have the codes read for free by several parts stores.
