1989 Ford F150 V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual 147k miles

my truck is running funny an my fuel pump is makeing a wierd out of the ordinary sound, I know it has a new fuel pump an front gas tank I dont use the rear.I thought I wran out of gas so I put two gallon in to make it home an it acts like its wants to run but as soon as u give it some gas it bogs out an spudders and dies I thought maybe I had soomething in my air intake tubes an nothing an now thefuel pump makes a loud whine instead of the normal quieter sound im thinking maybe someone put something in my tank but ho do I drain it useing the fuel pump to pump it all out an what doyall think the best plan of action should be?

The only way to properly clean the tank is to remove it. However, before that, I would recommend checking fuel pump pressure. The "new" pump may be bad. If you need directions, let me know.

Ok so far I pulled the fuel filter replaced it but first I pulled it an darin the line from the fuel rail to the fuel filter an drained the tank replaced the filter an brand new gas but still same problem an unfortunatly I have no fuel pressure gauge. It will start run for like 10-15 seconds then starts sputtering an bogging down an cuts off an the pump is smakeing a real loud whine now so im at a stand still any other plans of attack an thank sofar for ur help

It sounds like a bad fuel pump. Have you checked fuel pump pressure?

No not yet I dont have a gauge yet but thats next what should the gauge read while testing the pressure

Couldn't it also be the accelerator pump or power pump in the carburetor?

I believe they are fuel injected in 89. If I am correct, there is no accellerator pump or carb. If something has been changed, let me know.

Ya itfuel inje with a big plenum an that goofy looking throttle body with the huge ugly tubes for air intake its the 5.0

I would recommend checking fuel pump pressure. Have you tried that yet?

With the engine running, it should be between 35psi and 45psi.
