Electrical problem
1988 Ford F150 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a ignition problem, this is what I have done, changed ignition key switch not the problem, changed solenoid, not the problem, changed ignition switch on the columon and ignition is completely dead. The orginal problrm was the key dosen't turn on or off power, but can jump solenoid and truck runs I thought it was key switch, but not, then I was told solenoid was probly bad changed it not the problem the ford told me about the switch on the columon and when I cange it the system has no power at all but can put old switch and hook up Ignition hot lead from battery and jump start truck but still have to disconnect coil to stop and remove hot lead to battery, but with new collumon switch no power at all what elese could it be?

Yes I'm sure about the switch, I exchanged it and have the same problem but worse with the new switch (electronic on steering column), I have no power at all when hooked up. I put the old switch back on I can at least jump it and of course have power to the switch but can't turn it off with old switch, it's got me baffled, the key switch is the pin type, you just use a probe press in the pin and it slides out, is there a acuator switch inside the column that could be bad that would kill all power with the new switch installed on column but why do I have power with the old switch it just makes me think its someting in combination that is not right and that's why I'm lost does anyone have any Idea's?

Lights com on but with new switch, no radio ect. Put old switch yes this is what kills me, where the column switch mounts to those two threaded post are they suppose to be hot with power when you turn the key on? Or are they just stabilizers for the switch because then it would be in the column for sure.
