Electrical problem
1985 Ford F150 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 109*** miles

So I bought this old f150 as a restoration project. Thed only problem I had up until a week ago was an axel seal that I replaced myself and the brakes. So I proceeded to put in a sound system. I bought a new head unit and installed it with ease. I went to install the amp. I put it in, it sounded great. I drove about 3 miles and the amp (and subs because they were hooked up through the amp of course) shut off. The amp is fairly new and has no issues. I've checked all of the connecions and they're fine. Battery wire hooked straight to the posi side of the battery, ground hooked to the bottom of the chair assembly which connects to the frame, and the remote wire is run straight from the amp to the fuse box. I can't understand why it shut off, can you help?

The amp is still powering and remaining on when the truck is on. It's just not feeding any sound to the subs. The front spaker plays music but the subs hooked up to the amp play nothing

Have you checked to see if the amp is running power to the subs? If everything is still hooked up, it sounds like one of the channels in the amp has gone bad.

Well when you first turn the truck on, you can hear the subs make a little noise which is the amp turning on. But they never get any sound besides that coming out of the subs. By what you're saying, would that mean that both channels are bad since neither one of thE subs play?

I believe so. Try this little test, disconnect the speaker wires to the sub at the amp. Use a D cell battery and connect the wires from the subs on and off the battery. If there wiring is good, you will hear a noise from the subs when the battery is connected and disconnected. That way we can confirm the wiring is all good. If it is, then the amp has to be the problem.
