I try to statrt truck and it keeps turning over even if remove the key. I have to stall it out by letting out clutch to get it to start. I know thats not good for it. The it cranks first try after that.

Hi gbamarex22,

Thank you for the donation.

The ignition switch is bad and needs to be replaced. You need to get it done fast to avoid costly repairs if the starter gets damaged.

Do you mean the actual switch the key goes into? Or the ignition module?

The switch behind the key cylinder. When it stays stuck after cranking, the starter would continue to run and the overrunning of the starter would damage it.

Is the key turning back to the ON position after releasing it from the START psition? It should spring back easily and if it is stuck, either the ignition switch is not installed correctly or the key cylinder is faulty as well.

The other item that can cause the problem would be the starter. Check if the overrunning clutch is bad.

One thing that you need to check would be the starter relay. It could be sticking resulting in power not being cut when the ignition key is released.

Try swapping it with other relays.
