Engine Performance problem
1967 Ford F-100 6 cyl Manual 400000 miles

I've got a 67 ford and I cleaned the gas tank all the lines and the carb really good. When you mash the gas pedal a few tomes to manually pump a little gas in the carb it starts up no problem the about a min later dies. As if it were running out of gas. I checked the carb while it was running and it shoots gas but after about a min stops? Do you think it's the fuel pump? Also I took the fuel pump off and the spring lifter on it when pushed up blows not sucks.

Your not going to know unless you do some testing. Get a clear glass just and run a hose from the fuel pump into the jug and push the hose all the way to the bottom. Make sure the battery is fully charged and start cranking the engine. 15 seconds of cranking should get you at least a pint of gas in the jar. You also want to notice if air bubbles start coming out with the fuel with the line submerged in the fuel. A common problem here is the rubber hoses going back to the tank deteriorate with age and cause the fuel pump to suck air instead pure fuel.
