I have a 1998 Ford explorer with the 4 liter sohc 4x4 engine and want to swap it out with a 2001 4 liter sohc 4x4. Will this engine work in my 98 if I use my 98 intake and put it on the 2001?Please help.

Yeah it should all work considering most of the sensors are on the intake

As long as your pcm is calibrated to use with the swapped engine it may work. Remember your original engine, trans, emission package and pcm are all calibrated at the factory to work together, along with whatever internal engine design, start swapping out major components and run issues may crop up. The only thing you know for sure is that both are 4L sohc. Do your research before undertaking it.
