Air Flow System

Hi, I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT and I am being told that I have to have the air flow system replaced and the fuel system cleaned out at the cost of about $450. I know nothing about car repairs and was just wondering if this seemed like an appropriate charge. Thanks!

"Air flow system" is pretty vague. Do they mean that the air filter, mass air flow sensor, and the air duct need to be replaced? And first of all, what is wrong with the car?
