How do I test to find out if my alternator is working properly on my 2005 ford explorer with 4.0 liter V6?The voltage keeps decreasing upon acceleration and use of accesseries. What do you think the problem could be?

Use a volt meter across battery live and ground terminals. You should get a reading of between 13/14 volts. If not put red voltmeter wire to B+ wire on alternator and voltmeter black to negative battery terminal. Again you should get 13/14 volts if your getting below 13 the alternator is not putting out enough. Check wiring between alternator and battery. If all seems fine alternator may be worn?
