I have a 5 speed automatic trans in my explorer now. I would like to put in the new 6 speed automatic trans that is offered from 2006-2010 explorers instead. Can I do this? Would it cost alot more?. What else would I have to change out?. The 4.0 V6 liter motor is still offered with the 6 speed trans.
Thanks, Steve

I wouldn't recommend the change. Your vehicle isn't set up for the trans. We always recommend staying with direct fit parts. You'll have trouble with sensors, computers. And I'm not sure the transfer case will bolt directly. Between the trans and all of the other adaptations, it's just not worth the money.
