Vehicle runs hot lately in stop and go traffic. Already changed thermostate and had fan motor replaced. If able to get to "open road" before too long temp appears to come down, if not temp goes to highest level and panal lights come on informing to check gauges.

If the coolant level is correct try removing the thermostat and see how the temperature gauge reacts-also the coolant temperature sensor might be acting up and the computer is not energizing the fan relay on time or the computer controlled fan relay circuit

Feel across the radiator fin the temperature should be equal if not its clogging up-

Remove the radiator cap make sure coolant level is about 1in from filler neck-start the vehicle coolant should be squirling around now raise the rpm to 2K rpms coolant flow should increase-Or pinch off the upper hose for a few secs and let go -coolant flow should increase also-if not water pump is not doing its job
