I just got a new rear end put on my 03 explorer. Now when i'm driving usually around 35-50mph and let of gas and it's coasting slower I hear a grinding noise coming from rear end. Could that be tire noise or something more. Please help. Thank You.

Is the differential brand new or used? Check differential fluid level. Also raise the vehicle in rear and spin the wheels by hand to see if you can dertermine where the noise is coming from.

If it was the tires it would be more like a humming noise. You could try rotating the tires to see if the noise goes away. You may also want to purcahse an automotive stethoscope. With vehicle supported properly and front tires chaulked put the vehicle in drive and use the stethoscope to pinpoint souce of noise. This procedure can be dangerous and you may want to seek the help of an automotive service facility. Thanks for the vote. Hope this helps
