Are you sure the transmission linkage is actually shifting the transmission? Does it come out of park?

It runs the gears work but when I put it either in reverse or drive it just revs it comes out of park but yea I think its the trany. I live in lynden WA, do you know where a good place is to fix or see whats wrong

This may sound like a dumb question, but is there trans fluid in the trans?
