I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLS with a bad 4.0 V-6 engine. I found a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport with a 4.0 V-6 engine. Is the newer 2008 engine campatible with my 2002 engine? Will it fit and operate properly? Sensors and computer?

We recommend staying with a direct fit replacement part. The newer one will bolt into place, but that doesn't mean the same sensors will be in the right locations or if your sensors will fit into place.
