I need to know where the oil pressure sending unit is on a 2001 ford explorer v-6 SOHC. My oil pressure gage was going crazy one day and now it will not start.

Your vehicle uses an oil pressure switch and it is located on the engine next to the power steering pump. Faulty switch would cause oil pressure gauge to be inaccurate, it would not prevent vehicle from starting. Check engine oil level and pressure with mechanical gauge.
