My tensioner broke on the timing chain and before I take it apart to fix I was told I need to know I the valves got scattered? When it broke I had just started it, it ran for 3 seconds and died. Would the motor be ruined and would it be a waste of time to take apart if so?

It isn't listed as an interference engine, so you should be okay.

Let me know if you have other questions.
