I RECENTLY HAD A FRIEND WORK ON MY TRUCK. HE CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, SPARK PLUG WIRES, THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, FILTER AND AIR FILTER.

BEFORE I WAS BURNING GAS REALLY BAD AND MY TRUCK WOULDNT TAKE OFF BUT THAT WAS ALL.

KNOW AFTER EVERTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED MY TRUCK SPUTTERS, SHAKES AND SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL. NEVER DID THAT BEFORE. I HAD HIM LOOK AT IT AGAIN BUT SAYS THAT HOW IT IS SUPPOSE TO SOUND AND THAT IT WILL TAKE MY TRUCK ABOUT 500 MILES TO GET BACK ON TRACK. OR I NEED TO HAVE IT PUT ON A MACHINE ( DONT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY). JUST WONDERING IF THATS CORRECT OR COULD IT BE SOMETHING ELSE.

IT DOES TAKE OFF NOW AND GAS ISNT GOIN SO FAST.

PLEASE HELP. NEED ADVICE.

The only thing I can think of, is he may have either knocked a connector off a sensor, or forgot to plug one back in. Is the check engine light on, or flashing?

First thing you need to do is have the codes read, Autozone does it free, Post the results with the code number(s). Even if the service engine light is not on, there should be freeze frame data stored.
If it won't make it to Autozone, buy a cheap scanner, they can be had for 30-40 dollars, a good investment, since they cover all cars sold in the USA from 96 on.
If the light is blinking, it means possible damage to the converter. Service it right away!

I TOOK MY TRUCK TO AUTOZONE HAD THE CODES READ. THE PROBELM WAS WITH THE EGR. HAD TO MUCH AIR FLOW. ANOTHER FRIEND LOOKED AT IT AND WE FOUND OUT THAT THE GREEN TUBE AND YELLOW TUBE (VAC CONNECTION, GUESS THATS WHAT IT IS CALLED) WERE CONNECTED WRONG. PUT THE RIGHT COLORS TOGETHER AND MY TRUCK IS BACK TO NORMAL, NO MORE SOUNDING LIKE A DIESEL OR SHAKING.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I CAN DRIVE MY TRUCK AGAIN. OH YEAH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY WENT OFF.
