Engine Cooling problem
2000 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I can drive my vehicle around with the air running and it shows no signs of overheating, but when I turn it off water boils out the top of the reservoir tank. I have replaced the thermostat but that didnt work. What would cause this?

Does it only happen when you are in town driving or highway? Does the temp gauge show that it is overheatinr?

It happens everytime I drive. I can drive around town for awhile or take a long trip out of town but when I turn the car off it always happens. It doesn't do it if I dont run the air.

Hi:
If it doesn't happen with the AC is on, chances are the aux fan is keeping it cooled. Either the primary fan isn't coming on, it will overheat or if the radiator is partially plugged.
