I have a 2000 Ford Explorer 5.0 V8. The rear main seal is leaking, and the repair shop informed me that it would be very expensive to repair. They told me that the engine would have to be removed to repair the seal and labor would be at least 16hrs. Can you tell me if this is right. Thank you

Yes thats about right either engine or trans needs to come out. And on this truck and being auto it is less hassel to pull engine. With milage you might cosider having main and rod bearings replaced.
