My explorer has a whinning noise coming from the middle of vehicle. Not trans. Only makes noise when u put fott on gas pedal. Once you accelerate, noise decrease as you let off gas pedal. Not a real loud noise, but enough that you can hear it with the windows closed. Something in the drive line? Russ

There is nothing in the center that would make noise. I would start by checking both the output shaft bearing on the transmission and input on the differential.

Let me know what you find. Also, does it ever make the noise when you are not moving?

The noise isnt there moving in neutral. When driving, only makes noise when you step on the gas pedal.

Start with checking the bearings I mentioned.

Let me know what you find.
