1998 Ford Explorer sicgnificant coolant loss

New radiator, hoses and car 16 lbs. Had my mechanic check out the whole system and cant find out wht I am loosing about a litre of coolant every time I drive the car I even put a rag overt the tail pipe to see if I was loosing coolant thru the enginge. No luck. Car runs great

In answer to your question- yes that was my first thought-checked engind and trans for signs of green coolant and there was none-the levels of liquid are as recommended

What I recommend is this. Since you can't see where it is leaking, purchase a dye from the local parts store for the cooling system. Place it in the system and run the car. After the coolant level drops, using a black light, check under the hood. The dye will glow so you can see a leak.
