Do I have to remove the intake to replace the plug wires on a 1998 Ford explorer 4.0L? And Where is the fuel filter?

You should have a coil pack for each cylender. If so, the "plug wire" really doesn't exist. It is part of the coil pack and will come off the plug when the pack is removed. If you have distanced coils, the wires shouldn't require you to remove the intake.

As far as the fuel filter, it is on the driver's side under the vehicle along the fuel rail. (It's under the seating area) It is an inline filter.

Let me know if this helps.

Also, if you do have traditional wires, check to make sure they are bad. You check ohms of resistance. Every foot of wire should have 7000 ohms of resistance or less. If it exceeds that, they are bad.

Let me know if you have other questions.
