1996 Ford Explorer temp gage doesnt go half way stays on c

the suv has heat warms up good but the tempt gage stays at c even when the car is warm and the ac doesnt work is that a connected problem?

The first thing to do here would be to replace the thermostat and then see what you have. If it still reads cold, use a laser thermometer to determine if that is accurate before condemning the gauge.
