I have a 1996 ford explorer withn 178,788 miles. There is a oil leak undernealth the the truck. The oil light has not come on and no indication that the oil is low. What could be the problem and if I continue to drive the truck will this cause extensive demage.

It could be from a few things, the oil pan, valve covers. Keep an eye on the oil level and make sure it stays in the safe range. That will protect the engine. However, if there is a bad leak and enough gets on a hot engine, it could cause a fire.

Let me know if you have other questions.
