It appears that my air compressor has malfunctioned and was wondering how long might I be able to drive the truck with no long term electrical problems/effects as long as I dont use the A/C or heater and vent fans. The repair bill is estimated at close to $800.00, to replace the compressor and other parts, orfice tube, acclimator? It seems that the compressor clutch locks up. Could the cluth be replaced only. I know that when I use a couple of the air vents the compressor sometimes works and then it makes noises. Any information would be reatly appreciated.

IF you're not using it, you should be fine. You can use the fan and the heater, but the AC and defroster will actuate the compressor. You can unplug the compressor if you need to use the defroster. On the compressor, you will find a power supply to it. Just disconnect it.

Let me know if you have other questions.

First, thanks for the positive feedback. Second, let me know if you have other questions.

Were you able to disconnect it?
