Air Conditioning problem
1995 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

The air only blows out of the window and floor vents. I replaced the control switch and added refrigerant, this did not fix the problem. Please advise.

Is the problem that you can't direct the air flow to where you want it?

I believe you are looking for a vacuum leak in this case. The vent doors are actuated by vacuum. If there is a leak, this is what happens. Check under the dash and the hood for leaks. If you are lucky, with the engine running you may hear a hissing sound.

Let me know what you find.

The vacuum hose was not the problem. We are still troubleshooting. The actuator doors are not flipping the vents over from defrost vents to air conditioning vents. Please advise.

If there is no leak that you can find, chances are it is the controler is bad. Did you check vacuum hoses under the hood?

Yes, checked the hoses under the hood and dash. There was no leak. I had replaced the control switch on the dash before I emailed 2carpro's. Is there a controller behind the dashboard that needs to be replaced?

Meaning? The a/c, heat, fan and defrost? That control switch has been replaced.

Could it be a problem with the lines that direct the air under the hood are connected improperly?

By the way, thank you for troubleshooting this issue for me. It has become very tideous.
