1994 Ford Explorer transmission replacement

I have a 1994 explorer. They are known for blowing transmissions. I would like to know if I could take a transmission from a 1993-1996 explorer and put it in my 1994. I was told it should work but the engines MUST be the same. So would that be possible? Thanks.

Hi you can use 94-96 but not 93
