I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I SHOULD GO AHEAD AND BUY SOME TRANSMISSION FIX BEFORE I DECIDE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS EXPENSIVE AND THE TRUCK IS NOT WORTH THAT KIND OF MONEY. MY TRUCK WON'T SHIF INTO GEAR UNTIL I GO OVER 55 MILES THEN IT JUMPS INTO GEAR, FOR NOW I'AM SHIFTING THE GEARS MANUALLY. WHAT CAN I DO TO SAVE MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION?

This could be the vacuum modulator. Check the vacuum line going from the rear of the upper intake manifold to the right side of the transmission. If you have good vacuum there, then the modulator or valve could be sticking or leaking.
