I just replaced the clutch in the Explorer. After bolting everything back into place and letting the car down, I cranked the engine and found a problem. The gearshift was in neutral and would not shift into any gear with the car off or on. The trans seemed to be stuck in first and would not shift out of it, as I said the gearshift was in neutral. Depressing the clutch pedal knocked it out of gear but the trans would not shift between gears. It is stuck and I don't know why.

It has to be a linkage related issue if it won't even shift with the engine off. Have you rechecked it?

Found it. It was a shift fork out of whack. Took a screwdriver and moved it back into place and it worked like a charm.

That will do it. I'm glad you found the problem. Take care and let us know if you have questions in the future.
