1991 Ford Explorer tranny swap question

My 2 wheel drive explorer has a a4ld transmission, can I use a 4 heel drive transmission and just swap the nose from my 2 wheel drive to the 4 wheel drive transmission without changing the output shafts?

We recommend staying with direct fit parts because there are always differences. Will it work? Chances are it would, but you would have to check everything to make sure it is the same when making the change.
