Makes a low whining noise from front of truck while driving over 25mph and as I accelerate e whining gets higher in pitch, by 50mph it disappears. No noise when sitting/idling still. We have had belt, alternator and upper control arm changed recently and noise still there. These all needed to be replaced. The work was not done because of the noise but, we were hoping that it would stop from one of these.

Thought maybe the belt tensioner or my wheel hub.
Any ideas and help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Bruce

Is the noise related to engine RPM, or only vehicle speed.

If it's only dependent on vehicle speed, then take a good hard look at the brakes.

No, the noise has nothing to do with the RPM's

I checked the brakes, they appear to be fine. They are not worn down nor out of place. Rotor are in good shape as well. No groves, clean & smooth.

When I apply the brakes there is no change in the whining sound. The sound either gets lower in pitch when speed is reduced or higher in pitch when speed is increased.

I notice that this hub does not have a grease fitting, so I can not add grease. If I remove the hub will I be able pack grease into the bearings? I have jacked up the drivers side and I am able to wiggle the tire side to side a little. On older cars ( which I am use to) this is a worn bearing problem.

Thanks Bruce

What did you do to the truck before this noise was present?
