2000 Ford Expedition Car stuck in 4wh

My tranmission is auto and controled by a dial switch. AWD, 4WH, 4WL.

I switched into 4wh during a snow storm a few days ago and its stuck in 4H. I driove the car home, the rpm reved high as if stuck in Drive 2, the MPH read 90mph?

Any thoughts?

Bill,
Did the engine rev in 2wd or 4wd? Also, check to see if you are getting power to the actuator on the transfer case. If you are and it still doesn't come out of 4wd, chances are the actuator is bad.
