Looking to figure out how to install a front license plate bracket. I have the replacement part, but cannot see how to get the old broken long tabs out to replac e it.

It seems the bracket is supposed to clip on the metal of the bumper and then the two long tabs are to slide in a slot and click on a tab (I think) to secure it within the bumper.

I can't beelive you need to drop the bumper to replace this thing.

Wouldnt surprise me a bit, I cant find anything on replacing that on your vehicle. Sometimes they just want you to take stuff apart until you can get to it. Usually bumpers are built then hung on the vehicle, so removal for replacing that wouldnt be too shocking

Well that's not too helpful of Ford. Do you know of any resource that might indicate how it attaches within the bumper?

I am hoping that I might be able to force out the existing (broken) tabs and then slide the new one in.

My thought was that the tabs will ride up on a peg and settle down to "lock" in. If I can only get the old ones out.

As for dropping the bumper, so many states have differing laws on the front license that I just cannot imagine Ford shipping them in the cars (as they do) and then the dealer needing to drop the bumpers of their inventory to put on a piece of plastic.

Some year Vettes dont have anyplce for a plate, yet Cali requires them. Try just knocking the old tabs in with as mall screwdriver to se if you can slip the new one in
