1997 Ford Expedition V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 97 ford expedition and I have needed a jumpstart 4 times in last two weeks. I had battery tested and its a good battery. I am having no lights dimming or running problems that would make me think its the alternator but tech at advance auto suggested it may be alternator cause of voltage of battery which was 11 with engine off he said it was suppose to be a 13 but my manual says its suppse to be 12. My switch for my gears is faulty but when its that I push the gear lever in to park and it starts and when I try this it doesnt work. All my lights work stereo cranks, windows ect. Should I put a 200 alternator into it or what should I do? What could it be

You are right. The battery is 12 volts and could have 12+ volts. It doesn't have to have 13 to be good. As far as the alternator, they should have checked it when you had the car there to test the battery. Don't get the alternator unless the old one is checked and no good. Any nationally recognized parts store will most likely test the battery for free.

LEt me know what you find.
