You need it to go to a shop with diagnostic software to read the RAP module for faults.

Anti-theft system is designed to prevent unauthorized entry into passenger compartment, engine compartment, trunk lid (Escort), or luggage compartment (ZX2). When triggered, anti-theft system will provide audible and visual alarms: horn will sound, parking lights will flash and THEFT indicator on right side of instrument cluster will flash. Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter can also activate a PANIC alarm which is similar to anti-theft system alarm, but does not cause THEFT indicator to flash.
Anti-theft system is controlled by Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module. See Fig. 3. Whenever anti-theft system is armed, unauthorized entry will be detected by switches located at hood and each door including, trunk (Escort) or liftgate (ZX2).
To arm anti-theft system, ignition switch must be in LOCK position, PANIC alarm must be off and all doors must be closed. If anti-theft system is armed with door open, THEFT light will remain illuminated until 30 seconds after door is closed. Anti-theft system is armed by pressing lock button on RKE transmitter. Anti-theft system will arm after 30 seconds has elapsed. THEFT warning light will flash quickly every 2 seconds until anti-theft system is triggered or disarmed.
To disarm untriggered anti-theft system, press unlock button on RKE transmitter. If driver arms anti-theft system and remains inside vehicle, anti-theft system may be disarmed by turning ignition switch to ON position. To disarm triggered anti-theft system, press unlock or panic button on RKE transmitter or turn ignition switch to ON position. If hood or trunk are open when system is armed, it must be closed and opened again before it can trigger an alarm.
Anti-theft system utilizes a self-diagnostic system which stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in RAP module if problem exists in anti-theft system. DTCs may be retrieved from RAP module through the data link connector by using a New Generation Star (NGS) tester.
