Electrical problem
2000 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 122k miles

Normally the car runs good. Recently, it has begun to idle very low. When the car starts up, it is fine. When the car is warmed up, it idles low. When it is low, it is also erratic, revving up and down. It has also stalled a few times. It starts back up just fine however. Any help would be appreciated!

"check PCV valve
clean idle air control valve"

You were right on the money.

I literally just got back from the shop. They replaced the PCV valve and I believe the "upper hose". I probably could have done this myself and saved some money. They said the hose is hard to replace because it twists around other parts so therefore they charge more for labor.

The repair manual I have did not list how to adjust the idle but my dad found the place where you adjust it. The idle control valve on my car is down a metal tube. The tube had some red paint in it. This led us to believe that they put paint over the screw so the car owner won't mess it with. They want you to take it to a shop to adjust it.

Also, they cleaned the throttle body. So far so good.
