Electrical problem
2000 Ford Escort 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 100000 miles

I went out of town for a week and when I came back my car wouldn't start. Everything was running well before. When I try to start my car, it cranks for a few seconds and then dies. The lights also dim dramatically. I jump started my car and it worked fine, I even took it for a drive around the block. However, when I turned it off and tried turning it back on, it cranked for about 1 second and died. The battery is almost 2 years old. What can be the problem? Thanks.

Replace the battery and check the alternator charge rate, make sure all battery terminals are clean and tight.
