2000 Ford Escort Drivetrain Question

I have a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2 front wheel drive and I have seen that I can put any engine in it I would like but the only thing it would take is a lot of money and time. Well my question is that I would like to put an AWD engine in it and how would I figure out or if you can what size rear axle I could put in it?

Depends on your abilities.I have seen Ford 460's in Pintos. How bad do you want it. I would Google (search on top of index page)what you are trying to do and see what other people have come up with. There may be some Rally set-up that is exactly what you are looking for, they usually use AWD
