CAR DIES WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS. IT RUNS FINE IN IDLE POSITION.

Here is what I have so far from several of my Ford Mechanics Friends: 1. You may have shorted out the Cam, or Crank Sensor when you reconnected the Wires, and one or more were not connected together. 2. You may have shorted out the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) in the same manner. This little device controls your acceleration with the car, and cause it to stall immediately when you put it into Drive. 3. Also you may have Damaged the PCM..(Power Control Module) causing it to tell the care to stall...( it thinks you are trying to steal it, and is part of the Anti-theft system). Also My friends tell me that with out the OBDII code # they can not give a accurate diagnoses. I am truly sorry, and wish I had more...But we really need to know what that CEL code is.

Most local part stores will scan it for free and give you the code
also check with them if they rent out the scanned so u can do it your self in case car will not make it to the store

check all the wires and make sure nothing was left unattached
do a fuel pressure test
make sure its firing at all cylinders
