1997 Ford Escort

I have a 97 Escort Lx I replaced the alternator and I drove the car for about a mile then it stalled on the side of the road. The starter turns the engine but it does'nt start. I also replaced the fuel filter thinking that was plugged. There is a spark.

When you first turn ignition key to ON position (ignition lights on, not cranking) do you hear a slight BUZZ noise while sat in vehicle. If not your pump is not working. First check the Inertia Fuel Shut-Off Switch. On right side of cargo area, above wheelwell. Also check the fuse for the pump? Let me know
