1995 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

the trouble code specified that I had a bad vehicle speed sencor I bought and installed a brand new one what would make the car still not shift into second gear please help

Did you have the fault code deleted after replacing the sensor? If not have it deleted. The car needs to be told the repair has been done. Test drive car. If still not selecting second could be the wires to the sensor. Also try selecting second yourself and driving around does the vehicle drive normally? Repost for more help
