1995 Ford Escort Driver's Door Seat belt won't Move anymore

My friend's mother has a 1995 ford escort. She leant it a friend, and the friends husband being a rather large gentleman, pushed the seat all the way back, and am not sure of what else he did but now the set belt doesn't move any longer when ouo open or close the door, WHY?

May not have anything to do with who was using it. One possible explanation is that one of the cables that pull the belt forward and back may be caught. Mine got caught and I fixed it a few times with a screwdriver run down the "Track" but it eventually got so tangled that I finally cut the cable, moved it to the back (in place to drive) position. And removed the fuse so it no longer moves. I have to click it both to get in and out, and so does the passenger, but I couldn't afford the replace/repair.
I'm only a D-I-Y-er not a real mechanic but do my own valve jobs, (with Manual) that is my skill/knowledge limit
