Car was running fine when I broke the timing belt. After replacing the timing belt the engine started ticking. Most of the time the car runs fine. Occasionally it will only run on three cylinder but straightens out within seconds. The engine is a non-interferance motor. Please help me. I finally figured out what was wrong with my car. The valve seat had separated from the cylinder head. I have heard this is a common problem with the 1.9's and the 2 liters. I pulled the head off and now I am debating what I should do. I will either have the head machined or buy a reconditioned head.

I would suggest getting a recondition head with a warranty. If you fix the one cylender and put it back together, if your luck is like mine, another one will go bad.

I already took my head to a machine shop but I got them to replace all the intake valve seats so hopefully I won't have a problem with it. They also gave me a warrenty on the head. Thanks for your input.

As long as they gave you a warranty, that is good. Also, I'm glad you got all of them replaced.
