1993 Ford Escort running rough

Car sat for last few years w/only short drives 25mph etc, veh always serviced by mech shops, car would buck & run rough, rev up, runs better, after 300 miles veh started cutting off/would olny idle/tried feathering the gas but still only "puts" after a few min veh starts running better/put new plugs in, old plugs looked great/opened up cat converter (need to replace). Drrove car, still has same problem, fuel pump? Electrical? Any help would be welcomed.

Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following:

1. Defective spark plug
2. Inadequate spark/coil, defective spark plug wire.
3. Lack of compression
4. False air leakage.
5. Faulty fuel injectors.
6. Insufficient fuel pressure.
7. Contaminated fuel.
8. EGR valve that is leaking.
9. Oxygen sensors.
10. Throttle position sensor.
11. Idle air control valve.
