1993 Ford Escort pitted cly head

Replace cly head but notice pitting around
value areas on the suface of the head.
can I just clean this up or should I put it the shop
and have it suface grinded?

Id have the head checked. You dont want to have to do the job twice, especially if you already see the pitting.
